I have laid before my
Lord Commissioners of the Admiralty
your Letter
of the 11th inst,
enclosing the Copy of a Despatch
from the Governor of Hong Kong,
relative to the prevalence of Piracy in that Colony,
and stating that Mr. Leighton (Acting Consul) would strongly press on their Lordships the expediency of specially allotting at least one Gun Boat for the suppression of Piracy and the protection of Commerce in concert with the HMS Frederic Rogers.
